RE: I need advice on building my own toy hauler

There is a guy in Thumpertalk.com that built his own on a 16" trailer. The principles will be the same for a larger trailer. Look for Toyota MDT Tech over there.

RE: Then final word on Weekend Warrior

I think the frame class action lawsuit caused a hardship that costed them a lot of cash along with the negative press. I'm not sure they would have survived the economic downturn but the lawsuit didn't leave them any cushion for hard times. Remember, Thor California sold out to a group of former employees before WW went under.

RE: Toys I wanted to buy and passed up

I sold my 68 Formula S Fastback Barracuda for $700 to buy a .............78 Toyota pickup. I had the motor, trans and front end rebuilt. It was a numbers matching car with every option. I passed on a pair of Maico MX bikes. One was an 81 490 and one was a 78 400. Both were well maintained ridden once a month and kept garaged. I was a new father of twin boys and couldn't come up with $600. Today raceable 490's are in the $5g area, restored "Cudas" are in the $20g range.

RE: Pingel chocks

I found a cross member behind the tanks to anchor mine. I pre-drilled and used self tapping torx head screws. I went under to make sure there was nothing to hit when I drilled. I mounted one to roll the bike in straight in and another at the back of the trailer to load cross ways. 1200 miles, so far no problems.

RE: Mammoth Mountain Camping/Trail Riding

Are there any good fishing spots along the Mammoth OHV loops? No, fishing is lousy, don't go, get fish at Costco. When you can find them they bite on bananas. :):)

RE: Question on valve adjustment on yamaha???

It will be hard starting if the intakes start to close up. I think that bike will have the setscrew type tappet adjusters. I would look for something like junk in the carb or a dirty air filter. Start with the basic maintenance stuff. Those little bikes should run forever.

RE: Here we go again. Sierra club grabs MORE land

There were proposals to develop it into cookie cutter housing tracts and big box shopping centers. I think I prefer this "lesser of 2 evils" agreement, though they don't say what will become of the rest of the ranch.

RE: Real estate listing with RV parking

When we were looking to upgrade, our only requirement was 4 bedrooms and RV parking or space to make RV parking. I thought 16' would do it. It was tougher than you would think. We found 1/2 acre lots with 10' on either side of the house, dumps with parking and everything we didn't need in between. We found a new home in Kookamonga with 16'. We asked the builder to delete the wall. She said they can't do it, city regs, blah blah. The next development over offered gates as an upgrade. We ended up doing what everyone else does and knocked down the wall and paved. If I removed my tuff shed I could back in a total of 75'.I'm at the end of a cul-de-sac so it gets a little tricky because I have to s turn going backwards.

RE: Table Leg Clamps - Where to Find?

I just did a search on Google and found this site but I didn't look for what you want. Good Luck.www.tweetys.com

RE: WW Water Heater

I bought a $10 guard that goes over the vent at an RV supply store. It's supposed to block some of the wind. I haven't had a chance to try it yet and I probably could have made one. I saw small pieces of galvanized meal at Home Depot that would probably have worked.

RE: Towing With 2007 F150 , Opinons Please

Thanks guys really appreciate it . Now I am leaning towards the fs2300 the trailer is 4575 so it says on ww website, I have read that is way off of actual so with dirt bikes and bags etc.. i am figuring 6000 to 6500 I will tow with no fluids . Will be getting bags soon and trailer brake controller and stabilizer etc for the truck.. ok setup any suggestions??? Any thoughts on that chime in please I weighed my FS2300 loaded with 1 bike prior to dumping my tanks so I had fuel, food, clothes and cargo for 2 people. My trailer has all options and a few I added. I had 7000 lbs on my axles and I'm guessing another 750 lbs tongue weight. Depending on your load you should be okay. The latest FS2300s come with 5200# axles vs. my 3750# axles. Just take your time getting where you are going to save your brakes.

RE: raptor tailgate, how to fix?

Clean well and use an epoxy garage floor paint. It sounds like someone skimped on the finish on your tailgate.

You weren't on your way out the door when the competitor said that were you?

RE: El Mirage Visitors Center

I think the street cycle hit a quad. The victim on a quad is a 62 y.o. grandfather. Both were thrown about 80 ft. He was last in the line of 6-7 quads with little ones in front of him. I got this info from a co-worker that went out there to retrieve camping rigs left out there. He said the street bike was entangled with the quad and it blew the front end off the quad.

RE: Can I powder coat my rims or ???

What are the rims on, your trailer? It might be cost prohibitive as you need to strip the chrome off enough so it doesn't peel under the powder coating. It's probably cheaper to just replace them with new painted or PC wheels.

RE: TIE DOWNS

Contact your manufacturer to find out about attaching to the walls. They might send you some screws to use or at least tell you what to use. As long as you're not trying to hang a bunch of weight you should be OK.

RE: Men.... get ur done!

I get a PSA done every year. I get the friendly finger every other and I will probably get a colonoscopy soon too. I want to enjoy my retirement.

RE: Toyota Tundra

OK guys, thanks for the input. It's kinda tough to go into a payment sitch for no real improvement in towing and for 5-600 bux a month I can buy a lot of gas.

Toyota Tundra

I'd like to hear from 07 Tundra owners about their towing experiences regarding fuel economy. I've heard a few stories of very poor fuel economy. I'm towing a 23' WW SL with a V10 F250 now. I'd just like some comparisons before I decide. I get 12 mpg. solo and 7 to 9.5 depending on how big a hurry I get in.
